To oversee the functioning and productivity of allocated areas, focusing on strategic departmental goals including growth, retention, profitability, efficiency gains, staffing resource and external/internal business relationships.
An avid sports fan, with regular hobbies such as Golf, Football and Boxing. I’ve raised almost £2,000 in total for multiple charities over the years, with fundraising events such as Race Nights, Football Matches, and marathon Golf days. As one of six children, I’ve always been close to my family so a balanced time between them, friends, hobbies and work has allowed me to achieve targets both from a work and personal perspective over the years.
After initially pursuing a career in the tradesman industry as an Electrician, I worked predominantly in administration roles from the ages of 18 to 22, which led me to The Granite Group, where I’ve been employed for almost ten years. Since then, I’ve received multiple promotions from administration to Assistant Fleet Underwriter, Fleet Underwriting Manager and now Head of Department. All this has happened whilst continuously expanding both general and product-specific insurance knowledge, obtaining NVQ qualifications, completing areas of Cert CII relevant to my role, representing the company at national exhibitions such as BIBA and continuously exceeding performance targets.
What Granite Underwriting means to you & your ambitions for the company
The Granite Group have given me the platform to start a career in the insurance industry, expand my knowledge, given me consistency from a personal perspective and ultimately, allowed me to prove my worth. Naturally, I’ll be forever grateful for the opportunity and as the old saying goes, loyalty works both ways. The company growth in the time I’ve worked here has been astronomical so the simple ambition on the back of this is purely to continue the progress made and to achieve the end goal of the number one niche motor insurance provider in the UK.
Biggest milestone over the next 12 months
Our biggest milestone objective over the next twelve months from a departmental perspective, in tandem with the day to day targets, is to make our Fleet and CV Courier products more efficient with the application of further tech enhancements, implementation of more streamlined processes and the incorporation of further automation. This will all be done with the intention of providing our brokers/client’s the opportunity for further control, quicker turnaround times and ultimately, more business volume.
